Specially for the Seeflug seaplane competition held in 1926, German designer Ernst Gerbrecht developed seaplane Gerbrecht W.3. It was eight-seater low-wing aircraft powered by three Swedish Thulin A engines 90 hp (66 kW).

Building aircraft was started at the shipyard of the Arado Flugzeugwerke company. Seeflug did not manage to make it to the competition. Factory tests carried out in Warnemünde revealed a number of shortcomings of the W.3, The most important of which was a low-power and outdated power plant (Thulin A engines were produced in 1917).

W.3 driven in the hangar of the Arado company, where it stood until 1928 years, and then disassembled.
