Type Werk.Nr Registration History
Construction by Antoni Kocian and Apolinary Sobierajski. A performance glider, it was immediately popular with pilots and had a reputation for being a very good “scratcher” (the pilots nicknamed it Komarthermik). But following an accident, towing and flying in the clouds were prohibited. Then the design was improved and the bans lifted. The Komar was arguably the most popular performance training glider in Poland before the war. More than 80 examples were built in two workshops. It was also produced under license in Estonia, Yugoslavia, Palestine, Finland, France and Bulgaria. A Komar built in Finland completed a flight from Tallinn to Helsinki, crossing the Gulf of Finland (more than 60 km above water).
