V1 GI+SQ, VN+AQ Converted Me 210 V 13. First flight 11 Sept. 1943
At the beginning of the summer of 1942, the designers Messerschmitt from Augsburg began to work the development of two hunter projects at once, capable of replacing the loser Me.210. Both projects received the support of the Ministry of Aviation and the designations Me.310 and Me.410. They were close in design, and for their production could use most of the tooling predecessor. Although both aircraft were similar, the first was intended for actions primarily at high altitudes and accordingly received a larger wing without automatic slats and a pressurized cabin.

The prototype of the Me.310 was the converted Me.210A-1 (#179 VN+AQ), equipped with a new tail section modeled on the "Me.210-V17" and a larger wing at 0.65 m of span without slats. The aircraft in a new form was for the first time It was flown in September 1943. projects Me.310A-1 (Schnellbomber - high-speed bomber) and Me.310A-2 (Zerstoerer - hunter).

Both types were to be equipped with DB 603A engines with a capacity of 1750 hp. 1850 hp at an altitude of 2100 m and 1625 hp at an altitude of 5700 m. were armed with two 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns and two 20 mm MG cannons 151, rigidly mounted in the front of the fuselage, as well as two 13-mm MG 131 machine guns, placed on the sides in remotely controlled turrets. On the internal sling, the Me-310 aircraft could carry 1000 kg of bombs. Since the Me-310 differed from the Me-410 only in a slightly increased span wing and pressurized cockpit, then at the end of 1943, Tecbnisches Amt ordered to curtail further work on this aircraft, concentrating all efforts on the development of the Me-410.
