Since 1906, dipl. engineer Wolfgang Klemperer, assistant to Professor von Kármán at the Technical University of Aachen, was engaged in the design of duck-shaped aircraft models that were initially powered by a rubber engine and later by small gasoline engines. In 1911, Klemperer, together with his friends Friedrich and Tirnstein, began construction of a two-seater aircraft in the shape of a duck, equipped with a 5-cylinder Haacke engine with a capacity of 55 hp, and in the spring of 1914, the first flight tests took place in Chemnitz, but the outbreak of war prevented the continuation of flight tests and further development of the aircraft.
At the end of the war in 1919, Klemperer designed a small transport flying boat according to the duck scheme in the form of a braced biplane with a single-seat hull. Klemperer described his considerations that formed the basis of the design as follows: "A normal flying boat actually has all the components of a duck, but also an annoying rear hull", "The long bow of the boat is in any case necessary in order to cut the water", "In addition, the propellers must be located higher than the boat, so structurally and aerodynamically it is actually advantageous, if you can place the stabilizing and control organs on the nose and thus give up the tail necessary for this purpose, and you do not need to tear up the cargo space with engine superstructures."
The pilot and two passengers were accommodated in a well-enclosed cockpit. In the middle, the cabin was wider so that passengers could sit side by side, and an engine was installed behind the cabin to drive a pusher propeller. Rigid floats installed under the wing provided the "duck" with the necessary stability on the water. A fuel supply of 250 kg was supposed to be enough for 5 hours of flight.
Due to post-war difficulties and the lack of an interested investor, the project was not implemented.
