Maver was an assistant at the Aerodynamics Institute of the Technical University of Aachen. He designed several gliders as well as two motorized aircraft. During the 1933 Flug-Weather-Competition for the "Blue Ribbon of the Borkenberge" on May 7, he underestimated an approaching storm and crashed.
